Norseman Newsletter November

Last year, we asked for sponsor leads, and thanks to your help, we're now in talks with several recommendations. We hope to announce a free race slot for one of last year’s contributors in our December or January newsletter. If you missed out, now’s your chance! We’re open to new sponsor tips and will award a race slot to someone whose lead brings in a main sponsor.

Point us toward a potential sponsor!

We asked you for sponsor suggestions a year ago and received over 200 ideas. We’re now in promising discussions with several of them, and if one becomes a partner, we’ll give away a free Norseman slot to one of the contributors, as promised.

We’re relaunching this campaign to secure two new main sponsors. To encourage your help, we’re adding another free slot to give away. Here’s what we’re looking for:

Norseman works well with companies that align with our values of resilience and achievement. Our race shows that “ordinary” people can accomplish extraordinary things with training and determination—qualities that can also drive a business culture and brand.

Terms for the slot:
If your referral leads to becoming one of our main sponsors, you’ll earn a free Norseman slot (transferable to someone else). If the partnership is signed within the next 5 years, you’ll have 3 years to use your slot. Unique insights or contacts increase your chances, especially if your suggestion includes relevant details, like knowing the CEO and offering to connect us.

The founder.

We're showing some of the faces working with Norseman. Let us present Hårek. Hårek invented Norseman.
He is also the general manager of the event.

Norseman: Is it true that you created Norseman, most of all, for yourself as a participant?

Hårek: No, it is not. I am generally passionate about playing with new ideas and trying to create things. And I am passionate about improving and developing everything about the Norseman further. But, ok then, it is true. I totally love to do the course myself. I have done it about ten times, half at the crew race and the other half at the main event.

Norseman: What is your level in the sport?

Hårek: I have always been a slow and moderate lifestyle kind of triathlete. I have typically trained 7 hours a week, year after year. I still do. This training regime never made me any fast. I never had a talent for it, either.
But I perform better when the distance is longer.

Norseman: So, what is your racing style?

Hårek: My style is based on a total lack of worries. I am happy as a bird on the ferry, pushing too hard early on the bike because I always believe today is the best day of my life. My lack of worry is probably why I am the definition of Fredrik's slogan: "You are not prepared". I did Celtman in 2023. Stuart (CEO of XTRI World Tour) claims they have never had a more challenging participant than me. I totally loved my Celtman experience anyway. These people know how to throw a party.

Norseman: You walk like an old man. Do you plan to continue to do long distances yourself?

Hårek: Unfortunately, I am not mechanically sound. That is because of genes and not because of me overdoing things. I have removed half the meniscus in both knees, and I have done pretty solid surgery on the first shoulder. And I am now waiting for the other. I can bike as much as I want. But my knees don't accept me running, and the not-fixed shoulder doesn't accept swimming. Being in love with triathlon is not optimal. My ambition is always to utilize the remaining capacity of my body. I will probably be the last to understand when it is time to give it up. There are so many events within the XTRI World Tour I want to test first.

Norseman: Evil tongues claim you look best in white?

Hårek: I love my black shirts. I am also proud of my three white T-shirts; I can wear them without bragging.

Norseman: What are your ambitions for Norseman in the future?

Hårek: I try to contribute as much as possible as fast as possible. Norseman is still young. The event has an unlimited potential to demonstrate the robustness and what ordinary people can achieve.

MyXTRI FORMOSA Global 2024 - 2 remaining Norseman slots

The first two weeks of MyXTRI Formosa Global are almost finished, but there are still two weeks left and two more Norseman slots up for grabs. You can still join for week 3 and 4 of the challenge. XTRI World Tour will draw 1 Norseman slot each week among those who have completed and reported a minimum of 12 hours of activity.

Peace and Love from the entire Norseman Crew.
